The origin of its name is commonly linked to Rome’s well-known Aqua Virgo aqueduct, dating back to 19 BC, wanted by Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa.
The Latin word '' (Treio) indicates, in fact, a crossroads, specifically the coming together of three roads; the fountain itself marks the aqueduct’s exact ending point which is located at the intersection of Via De' Crocicchi, Via Poli e Via Delle Muratte.
Rome's Pantheon or Temple of All Gods is one of the best-preserved monuments handed down by the Empire.
As the Latin inscription on the front of the temple announces “M•AGRIPPA•L•F•COS•TERTIVM•FECIT”, the Pantheon was built by Marcus Agrippa, son-in-law of the first Roman Emperor, Augustus, in 27-25 BC.
Architect Giuseppe Pannini brought the project to completion after Salvi’s premature death; given the fountain’s complexity numerous artists were involved in the making!I see people are commenting on the advertising hoarding - I hate to say it but we first saw a few of them in Rome in 2016. When we were there again last year, they seemed to be at all the major sites, including Piazza Navona, Campo di Fiore, etc. Also, the fountain’s fame skyrocketed with Fellini’s 1960 “La Dolce Vita”, haven’t seen it yet? I like this ad, it looks sorta like a big red painting, way less jarring than that huge photo of a phone.Overall, when walking on the street, I notice these new screen type billboards way less and from some angle's are almost invisible.
